The Spanish singer will add a new role, Nedda, the leading lady in Pagliacci, this January at the Teatro Regio in Turin.

The characters the Canary Island soprano Davinia Rodríguez has gradually been adding to her repertoire have each become great personal triumphs for her. The most recent one was last October in Vienna when she made her debut in the impossible role of Lady Macbeth, in Verdi’s opera Macbeth, alongside Plácido Domingo. Her success was confirmed both by critics – who said she created “a role which is burned in the memory ”– and audiences, who gave her a long ovation on the opening night and each of her following performances at the legendary Theater an der Wien.
The new year will begin for the Spanish singer with a return to Italy, this time to make her debut in the role of Nedda in Pagliacci for her first appearance at the Teatro Regio in Turin, one of the most important Italian opera houses. On this occasion she will be conducted by Nicola Luisotti. Rodríguez will give four performances of this popular Leoncavallo opera between the 11th and 22nd January.

Later in the year yet more important engagements await the soprano. These include her return to the ABAO-OLBE season in Bilbao to make her debut in the emblematic role of Donna Anna in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, her debut in the title role of Donizetti’s Maria Stuarda at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, Dvořák’s Te Deum alongside the Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra and her return to the Teatro San Carlo in Naples with her acclaimed Amelia Grimaldi from Simon Boccanegra.
